Oriskany is a remote location dive. Of the 30,000 or so dives completed on the Oriskany since May of 2006, I know of only two or three cases of DCI or any other dive injuries that may have occurred on the Oriskany. While I consider the Oriskany to be one of the safest deep dives in the world it is still a remote location that deserves respect.
The Sea Sherpa is the fastest dive charter available and will cruise at 35knots weather permitting.
The Oriskany is located 25nm from the nearest place for emergency medical evacuation/ transfer.
There are NO emergency helicopter evacuations available.
There is NO super fast USCG boat to come get an injured diver.
The boat you go out on is the only ride you're coming back on.
There are no multi-place hyperbaric chambers available. Only two small single place chambers at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. They do however accept DAN insurance.
U.S.Naval medical facilities will NOT treat injured civilian divers and they do not have emergency staff standing by like at a hospital.
